Avoid Costly Legal Mistakes

You work hard to build your successful business. Don’t let your profits slip away because of legal mistakes.

Here are five examples of what NOT TO DO:

Sign a contract, file it away and ignore its terms. Don’t be surprised when the other side sues for breach of contract.

Publish claims on your website which exaggerate your product’s performance and conflict with  your product label or warranty limitations. Claims made on your website and social media are legally binding. Make sure everything you “say” about your product (or your services) is coordinated and accurate.

Hire independent contractors to design, build or code for you and neglect to sign them up under a written contract where you will clearly own their work.

Fail to walk away from “bad deals.” If contract negotiations become too protracted, it can be a sign that the transaction will not be successful for you.

Thinking that legal compliance alone is sufficient to protect you from plaintiff lawyers. Legal compliance is a minimum standard when it comes to product and operational safety.

I hope this short discussion is helpful for you.
